How To Add BUSD To Metamask In 5 Steps

The Binance USD Coin which is simply referred to as BUSD by many is a stablecoin that is pegged to the US Dollar (USD) on a 1:1 ratio. It is 2nd largest stablecoin by market cap just after Tether USD (USDT).

Metamask on the other hand is unarguably the most popular non-custodial cryptocurrency wallet right now. The wallet is available on a wide range of devices and can be used to store, trade, send and receive various cryptocurrencies and crypto assets across multiple (compatible) blockchains.

BUSD is backed by the world’s largest centralized crypto exchange – Binance and just like other popular stablecoins, BUSD is available on a handful of networks including the Ethereum blockchain.

Like some other tokens we have discussed in the past on this website, you can only add the Binance USD coin (BUSD) to your Metamask wallet using Ethereum and other EVM-compatible networks including Polygon, BSC, Cronos, Avalanche, and more.

If you’re a Metamask user who’s currently searching for how to add BUSD to your Metamask wallet, you’re on the right page. In this article, you will learn how to add BUSD to Metamask easily on Ethereum and other EVM-compatible networks.

How To Add BUSD To Metamask (Quick Guide)

  • Launch the Metamask extension or mobile app and unlock your account.
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on [import tokens].
  • Search for BUSD and select the correct option from the search results.

How To Add BUSD To Your Metamask Wallet (Step By Step Guide)

The Ethereum network is the most popular blockchain and the blockchain with the highest BUSD transaction volume.

We generally recommend you add the Binance USD coin (BUSD) to your Metamask wallet on the Ethereum network unless you intend to use BUSD on Metamask via other networks due to specific reasons.

To add the BUSD token to your Metamask wallet on Ethereum, you first need to ensure that the Ethereum Mainnet is selected as the default network on your wallet.

Once your wallet is connected to the Ethereum mainnet, you can then import the BUSD ERC-20 token to your wallet directly on the Metamask interface.

Below is a step-by-step guide on how to add BUSD to your Metamask wallet easily.

Step 1: Launch Metamask and unlock your wallet.

First, launch the Metamask extension on your web browser by clicking on the Metamask icon, then enter the account password to unlock your wallet.

If you’re on mobile, launch the Metamask mobile app by tapping on the Metamask app icon, then enter your account password or biometrics information to unlock your wallet.

Step 2: Ensure Ethereum is the selected network.

Since we’re adding the BUSD token to Metamask on the Ethereum Network (ERC-20), you want to make sure that the Ethereum Mainnet is selected as the default network on your wallet.

By default, the Ethereum mainnet should be the selected network on your wallet, but if you have switched networks in the past, then click on the network dropdown box and select “Ethereum Mainnet” from the list of available networks.

Step 3: Click on [Import tokens].

Now that your wallet is connected to the Ethereum Mainnet, scroll down to the bottom of the Metamask main window and click on [Import tokens].

Step 4: Search for the “BUSD” and select it from the list, then click [Next].

On the token import page, search for the BUSD token by typing in “BUSD” in the search field and then selecting [Binance USD (BUSD)] from the search results. The correct BUSD token is usually the first one on the search results list.

After that, click on [Next].

Step 5: Click on [Import token] to add BUSD to your Metamask wallet.

Finally, click on [Import token] to add the Binance USD (BUSD) token to your wallet on the Metamask browser extension.

Once the token has been added, you can go back to the Metamask home window to view your BUSD balance.

With this, you have successfully added the BUSD token to your Metamask wallet on the Ethereum network (ERC-20).

How To Add BUSD To Metamask On Other Networks.

Binance USD (BUSD) is also available on some of the popular blockchains around but not all of the blockchains are compatible with Metamask.

BUSD can only be added to Metamask using only EVM-compatible networks since the wallet only works with blockchains that are compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine.

Below you will learn how to add Binance peg BUSD to Metamask using a few of these compatible networks including Polygon and the Binance Smart Chain (BSC).

How To Add BUSD To Metamask On The Binance Smart Chain (BSC)

The Binance USD coin (BUSD) is available on the Binance Smart Chain and since the BSC is compatible with Metamask, you can add easily add BUSD to your wallet on the Smart Chain.

Below is how you can add the BUSD token to Metamask on the BSC network.

1. Copy the BUSD contract address for the Binance Smart Chain (BEP-20 BUSD).

To add the BUSD Stablecoin to your Metamask wallet on the Binance Smart Chain, you first need to get the contract address for the BUSD token on BSC.

Why Is MetaMask Not Showing My BUSD Balance?

In most cases, your BUSD balance may not show up on your Metamask wallet because you haven’t added the BUSD token to your wallet.

To add BUSD to your Metamask wallet, follow the guide above and ensure you add the token to your wallet using the network you intend to use BUSD on – Ethereum, Polygon, or the Binance Smart Chain (BSC).

In other cases, your BUSD balance might not be showing up on Metamask because you sent BUSD to your Metamask wallet using the wrong network, or your transaction simply hasn’t been completed.

For example, if you added BUSD to your wallet using the Ethereum network, you should only send BUSD from an external wallet or crypto exchange using the Ethereum network.

If you use another network like BSC or Polygon, your BUSD balance won’t show up when your wallet is connected to the Ethereum mainnet. For it to show up, you need to re-add BUSD to your wallet using the network you sent BUSD on.

And just in case you still don’t see your BUSD balance on Metamask when everything is set up correctly on your wallet, you might want to restart your web browser (if you use the Metamask extension) or the Metamask mobile app (if you’re on Android or iOS).

How Can I Find My BUSD Wallet Address On Metamask?

Your BUSD wallet address is the same as your default Metamask wallet address since the wallet address is shared amongst all tokens and blockchains added to your wallet.

We have a comprehensive guide on how to find your wallet address on Metamask so make sure to check that out if you’re seeking to find your BUSD wallet address on Metamask.

Wrapping Up

The Binance USD token (BUSD) is the second largest stablecoin which is pegged to the US Dollar (USD). It is backed by Binance which is the biggest crypto exchange right now.

There are a few ways to add the BUSD token to your Metamask wallet and this depends on the network you intend to use BUSD on. The token is currently available on several blockchains and some of these chains are compatible with Metamask.

You can add BUSD to your Metamask wallet on the Ethereum network by simply selecting the Ethereum Mainnet as the default network on your wallet. After that, click on [import tokens] at the bottom of the page, search for BUSD then add the token to your wallet.

On other networks like Polygon, and the Binance Smart Chain, you first need to copy the correct contract for BUSD on the network you intend to add the token.

Once you have the correct contract address, head over to your Metamask wallet and select your network of choice then add BUSD to your wallet that network using the contract address you copied.

And that’s about it. If you were searching for a tutorial on how to add BUSD to your Metamask wallet, we hope you found this guide helpful.
