How To Change Your Coinbase Email Address

To create an account on Coinbase, you need a valid email address and a valid phone number. You will need to access the email and SMS inboxes of your linked email address and phone number in some cases to receive verification codes, links, and more when trying to perform specific actions on your Coinbase account.

Since Coinbase like other popular crypto exchanges allow you to edit your profile information directly on the exchange dashboard, you can simply change the email address linked to your Coinbase account to a new one if you no longer use or have access to the email address.

In this article, you will learn how to change your address on Coinbase in a few steps. The article will also include a guide on how to change your Coinbase email address if you have lost access to the current address linked to your account.

How To Change Your Coinbase Email Address (Step By Step Guide).

If you no longer wish to use the email address linked to your Coinbase, you can simply change it on the Coinbase Accounts dashboard when logged into your Coinbase account on the Coinbase website.

To change your Coinbase email address, click on your account profile image on the main Coinbase exchange dashboard and navigate to the Coinbase Profile page.

On the Coinbase Profile page, you can change your email address by inputting the new address in the Email address section then confirm the email address change by clicking on the account email reset link sent to your current Coinbase email address.

Below is a step-by-step guide on how you can change your email address on Coinbase easily.

Step 1: Open the Coinbase website and log into your account.

Open the Coinbase sign-in page on the web browser on your device and sign into your account using your email address and password.

In some cases, Coinbase might request that you complete the 2-step verification process especially if you’re on a new device. Complete the verification by inputting the code sent to your Coinbase phone number to access your account.

Step 2: Click on your account profile image.

On the Coinbase dashboard, click on your account profile picture at the top right corner of the page to reveal the Coinbase quick access dialog.

Step 3: Select [Manage your profile] on the dialog.

Next, select [Manage your profile] on the Coinbase quick access pop-up dialog to open your Profile page on the Coinbase website.

Step 4: Click [Email address].

On your Account Profile page on the Coinbase website, click on [Email address] in the Contact Info section.

Step 5: Enter your new email address and click [Save].

Now, enter your new Coinbase email address in the text field. Cross-check the email address and click [Save].

Step 6: Check your email inbox and approve the email change request.

Coinbase will notify you of a pending email address change request on your account and you will have to authenticate this request.

To do this, open your email client and check for an email from Coinbase with the title “Email change request” from “[email protected]” and open the email to view its contents.

Finally, click on the button which reads [Yes, Change My Email Address] to change your Coinbase primary email address to the new address you entered in the previous step.

You will have to approve the email change request on both your current and new email addresses. So repeat this step on your new email address too.

With that, you have successfully changed your email address on the Coinbase website.

Lost Access To Your Coinbase Email Address? Here Is How To Change It.

In the guide above, we showed you how you can change your Coinbase email address when you still have access to the current address linked to your account.

If you have lost access to your current Coinbase Email address, then the process is quite different since you will need to provide an ID document to prove to Coinbase that you’re indeed the owner of the account.

Below is how you can change your Coinbase email address if you have lost access to the current email address.

Step 1: Open the Coinbase Email recovery page and sign into your account.

Open the Coinbase Email recovery page on your browser, sign into your account using your current email address and password then complete the 2-step verification process by inputting the 7-digit code sent to your phone number.

When prompted to verify your new device via email, select [I no longer have access to my email address].

If you were not asked to verify your device via email, simply open the Coinbase Email recovery page again but on a new tab on your web browser.

Step 2: Enter your new email address.

Now on the Coinbase Email recovery page, enter your new email address and click on [Continue].

Step 3: Confirm your new email address.

Now, Coinbase will send an email confirmation link to your new email address. Launch your email client and check for an email confirmation link from Coinbase.

When you find the email, open it and click on the blue button included in the body of the mail to confirm your new email address.

Step 4: Enter your 2-step verification code.

To further confirm that you’re truly the one changing your email address, Coinbase will send you another verification code but this time to your linked phone number.

Enter the 7-digit code sent to your phone number via SMS to complete the 2-step verification.

Step 5: Verify your ID.

Since you’re changing your email address without having access to the current address linked to your Coinbase account, you will need to verify your ID by uploading an ID document.

Select an ID type and upload the document on the Coinbase recovery page.

After uploading your ID, your email change request will be forwarded to the Coinbase team for verification.

Once your ID is verified, your email address change request will be approved and you should be able to log into your Coinbase account and complete 2-step verification on your account using the new email address.

Changing your email address can take anywhere from 2 hours to up to 24 hours to complete in some cases so you will have to be patient. Coinbase will send you an email when your request is approved.

Can You Change Your Email Address On The Coinbase App?

No, you currently cannot change your email address directly on the Coinbase mobile app for Android or iOS devices.

To change your Coinbase email address on mobile, you will have to open the Coinbase website on your preferred web browser on your mobile device and sign into your account using your current email and password.

After that, follow the guide above to change your Coinbase email address on your mobile device.

The Coinbase website is the same on desktop and mobile so the steps are the same whether you’re accessing the Coinbase website from your phone or PC/Mac.

Wrapping Up

While we do not recommend frequently changing the email address linked to very important accounts like your Coinbase account and accounts with other crypto exchanges, there are quite a few times when it is necessary.

If you have lost access to the email address linked to your Coinbase or you’re migrating to a new email address, you can simply change your email address on Coinbase by following the steps outlined in the article.

To change your account email address on Coinbase, you have to first be signed into your account. Next, navigate to your Coinbase accounts profile page then click on “Email address“, enter your new address, click Save and authenticate the request by clicking on the button included in the verification email from Coinbase.

If you don’t have access to your current Coinbase email, you will have to go through the prompts on the Coinbase Email Recovery page including verifying your ID by uploading a preferred ID document.

Lastly, if you’re facing issues while trying to change your email address even after following the steps outlined in the guides above, then we recommend reaching out to the Coinbase Support Team and then allowing a rep to take it up from there.
